The country of Wales is a United Kingdom principality covering an area of approximately 8,000 sq miles (21,000 sq/km), which is slightly larger than the Japanese island of Shikoku.

With a population of only 3,000,000 it is one of Europe's most sparsely populated countries, and consequently it remains largely unspoilt by urban development.
Though small in size, Wales is rich in diverse natural beauty: from the rugged mountains of Snowdonia in the North and the wild Brecon Beacons in the East, to the spectacular coastlines of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire in the South and West. There are over 730 miles (1,100 km), of coast with unspoilt beaches, coves and rugged cliffs to explore, and over 400 castles and ancient monuments to visit. There are forests, woodlands, canals and lakes, and magnificent gardens including the world reknowned National Botanic Garden of Wales.

Rich in its own traditions, the Welsh language is still spoken widely throughout Wales as both a first and second language and this is especially true in the county of Carmarthenshire, known in Welsh as 'Sir Gaerfyrddin', and often referred to as "The Garden of Wales".

Our home is located in the middle of this county, just a few minutes drive from the main town of Carmarthen and within easy reach of all services and amenities including excellent road, rail and air links.
